Trimester 1

Trimester 1, 2012.  Can anyone tell me why I thought it would be a good idea to study four units this trimester?  Especially given UNE has now moved into trimesters which shortens up the teaching period?

I have four assignments due in the next 2 weeks and 2 quizzes to do before trimesters' end.  Instead of spending time over the past week working on them I watched every episode of Grey's Anatomy I have taped this season in one go and then downloaded and watched the entire series The Slap.  While watching all this TV (DH is away) the house has gotten a tad messy (understatement) so further procrastination activities may include house cleaning before I can settle in to study.

The Slap is brilliant by the way.  If you didn't watch it you really should buy it on DVD or download it through iTunes.

Sunday Climbing

I was up early on Sunday.  The combination of a horse recovering from colic and things to do had me up and enjoying the sunrise.  I don't often get up early enough for this, but when I do I always think it is a beautiful time of day.

We ended up heading off with the outdoor adventure club to scope out a semi-local climbing spot.  Nothing says rock climbing quite like rocking up with your kids, but the smalls both had fun too.

The Mr climbed this grade 16 and had fun.  We will have to go back with our own gear and spend a day playing.  We will also have to join the outdoor adventure club so we have an excuse to tag along on more club days out and about the area.

This photo does not look like the Mr is tied in, he is.  This climb was top roped and protected.

Summer Semester End

Today I submitted my final assignment for Summer Semester.  I did two units over the Summer break which worked well.  I now have three weeks off before lectures begin again and I have plans for this time: knitting, quilts finished and freezers filled.

I am looking forward to study this year, the help of a scholarship will make things a bit easier too.  this year I am also a uni mentor which will be an added challenge, but one I am looking forward too.

A Milestone

Normally I post about the children's milestones, but this one is mine.

Today I finished my first semester of Uni!  I know lots have people have done it before and I know I have a long way to go but I feel the need to celebrate the small things as well as the big things.  I am now waiting on the results of the three units I did, but I know I passed so I am not worried, but by how much did I pass?  Time will tell!

Three units is considered full time study.  I am really proud that I managed this while still taking the children to their Playgroup, pre-school, music lessons, swimming lessons and Little Athletics.  Did I forget anything on that list?  Phew, we are busy!  I had said I would study in my spare time, as long as the children didn't pay the price for it in terms of missing out on their things and family time.  The house missed out, and some nights meals may have required imagination and an open mind to eat but we got there in the end.

Of course, the Mr picked up a lot of slack for me.  Thank you.  I don't really have words that will convey how much he has done, but it was a lot, and I am grateful for it.

And now I have time to read, knit, relax and enjoy Summer before starting again next year.

{twenty eight} focus

I don't see Blogtoberfest on the list, or Blogger either...

Exam prep is underway here (as soon as I publish this post).

{twenty five} group work

I don't feel like I am represented on this picture.  Where is the person who sees the value in trying a cooperative learning task and wants the group to all contribute as intended for a desirable group outcome?

I am having trouble convincing the group that a cooperative learning task can only work if everyone has a discussion about the topic and moves on from there.  I have no authority over the group which adds to the challenge, but I don't want one person to write an essay and then get someone to check spelling and fob it off as a group activity.  Who will learn anything from that?

Rant over (for now!).

{nineteen} study

Two assessments due and exam prep to start...

At least I will have a good excuse if I fall off the Blogtoberfest wagon!

Light Reading?

Ok, so it isn't really light reading which may be why my mind has been wandering today.

When will it rain here?  It is dry and I don't want to head into Spring with no moisture in the soil.

Thank You Water is a wonderful idea.  I usually pack lunch and drinks when we go out but if I have to buy a drink in town this will be what I look for.

I do not like cooking fat sausages.

The Workers are not as good as Big Dog, who is not as good as Prime Possum used to be, which I can't find online :(
