I have been saving as many buttons as possible for awhile and I decided to use some of them to embellish a plain denim skirt for G. She really likes it and points to whichever button takes her fancy at the time.

Am still knitting the little beanie and have the material and pattern sitting there to make a start on the little sun dress with shoulder ties so have plenty in the pipeline to keep me busy... Good thing I have 95% of my Christmas shopping done already so should have time to get a little done here and there :)

Lazy Days

I had heard a lot about the Lazy Days skirt so thought I should give it a go for myself. It really was very simple and even a beginner sewer such as myself managed to turn this out in about an hour.

The gingham is left over from some project 10 years ago. I still have a few yards of it, and more in a different colour so you will see a lot more of it until it runs out... I did agree to not buy more fabric (within reason) until I use the stash :(

Note the uneven stitching on part of the hem! At least Missy will never notice :)

I am going to applique a little shirt in the same fabric so will post some photos of it all being worn when I have done that.

New Years Resolution

I am the organised type, and as such have been thinking ahead to 2009.

There are so many things I would like to achieve in the New Year. I have been slowly learning to knit and more recently sew. To help these endeavours along I have decided that 2009 will be the year of the hand made gift.

I hope I progress quickly as at this stage everyone will either get a tea cosy, a scarf or an oven mitt :) All perfectly fine as gifts but would like to keep it interesting for everyone, myself included.

I have decided that committing this thought to writing, and calling it my New Years Resolution will help to ensure the success of this task. Wish me luck, and feel free to send me easy ideas to help me out!

November Challenge ~ Oven Mitt

The Novemeber Challenge for the EB beginner sewers this month was to make an oven mitt. Sounds simple you may think but to someone like me it presented it's own challenges... My sewing machine and I reached an uneasy truce and I got started.

These photos are of my second attempt at an oven mitt (I did not like the first pattern I tried) and I am happy with it! I have to make another one at some stage so I have the matching pair.

My brother saw this oven mitt last night and put in an order for one, but in more manly colours!

Outdoor fun

Dear Husband is very happy as we found a good bouldering site 10 minutes away from the new house. We have not been over there more than a couple of times but it is reassuring knowing it is there whenever we feel the urge to play on rock.

There is also good climbing an hour away and we hope to get up there this weekend to check it out. Touch wood that the weather holds for the outing!

One day walking down the street of Wagga, a stranger said to us as we passed him on the street "let your kids eat the dirt". It was a strange random comment at the time, but I think this photo proves that we do just that! Miss does love being outside and playing in whatever she can find :)

First post

Well, my first blog post. I know nothing about it (blogging) but decided I would jump on the band wagon and see how I go with it.

We have settled in post move well enough. So many boxes to unpack... The bulk of it is done and we are painting, gardening, brewing and so on. We even found time to go up to Nowendoc to check on the horses and trim feet. I love it up there!

This is a photo I took of my horse Bob, with Dougie in the background. As you can see I was busy snapping a couple of photos, and playing with Little Miss while DH did all the hard work! I did find the time to remove the tangles from their manes while we were up there.

Anyway, enough rambling from me for my first effort!
