The Christening ~ Part 3

The small Church just up the road where the service was held. I love that this Church still opens it's doors once a month. Beautiful!

And a photo taken during the service, as well as a shot of the Sunday School craft action after the main service.

Christening ~ Part 2

A Christening is a great excuse to dress up and take some photos.

Both children looked wonderful dressed in their Christening clothes. I would have liked to have them in the family Christening gown but I left my run a bit late!

They had fun too.

A rare photo of the four of us, I may have to get this one framed.

And in case you were wondering why this is part 2, I decided showed off the cake I baked and decorated in the last post. It was pretty good (if i do say so myself!).

edit: Yes, it is a Polly Pratt dress. I love it a lot!

Holiday Snaps

The Mr's folks left this morning.  They were here for two weeks which was lovely.  We got a lot done, and it wasn't all work, we got out and about too.  The Mr goes back to work in the morning and things will slowly get back to normal around here.

I have a lot to catch up on :)

Happy Weekend

Hope you have something fun planned.

This Amazing vantage point is only 35kms from our place.  Pretty wonderful view I think!

Swim and Survive

We have had a busy 9 days here with Swim and Survive lessons at the local pool.

Both Possum and Blue ended up in the same class which was great.  Lucky for us the Mr was able to come in each day and hop in the pool to help.

Both kids had a great time and watching them both progress over the 9 days was wonderful for us.  Possum learnt to paddle and kick at the same time and Blue loved jumping in off the edge after tossing in a floating toy.  He was also happy to go under the water but could not blow bubbles as every time the water touched his chin he would open his mouth!

Possum held out for a bribe of 2 red frogs each day so it was 20cents a day more expensive than I thought, but still a bargain really :)

The instructor is going to start running weekly lessons so that should be good too.

Five Photos. Five Facts.

1. I love the holidays.  Time to play, time to relax.  Special time for the whole family.
2. I buy chocolate chips every time I do the groceries.  They should be used to bake cookies, but I always eat them before I get that far.
3. We don't own a dishwasher, and I say we don't need one, but the Mr mostly does the dishes and he thinks we do need one.  One day when we put a new kitchen in...
4. I really want to win lotto, but not enough that I ever buy a ticket.
5. I would love a good photo with both my children in it, I am still trying!

Mt. Kaputar

Mount Kaputar National Park is 50km East of Narrabri in the North West Slopes and Plains of New South Wales.  This volcanic rock dominates the horizon for miles at 1520m above sea level and is a view I grew up with and remember fondly.

It is said that on a good day, from the various lookouts in the park, that you can see up to 10% of New South Wales from here.  Amazing!

The Mr decided to try out a fake smile* much like Possum uses for the camera...

There are plenty of picnic and camp sites in the park and at $5 per tent and $3 per adult I think we will go back soon!  It was a great way to spend part of the long weekend.

One of the few photos of me with both children.  Possum still has her fake smile in place and Blue is trying to escape!  Now wonder we don't have any photos with the four of us in it!

*Like it isn't hard enough to get a good photo in the first place, serves him right that I am using it regardless...

Catching up with Friends

On the weekend we drove South to catch up with friends at Burrinjuck Dam.   They are like family and it has been too long between catch ups.  Four of the boys managed to avoid being in this photo so we were quite a large group in all.

There was plenty of time for fun in the park and fun feeding the birds and kangaroos that were all so quiet they would eat from your hands.

Possum could not skim rocks, but loved watching them splash.  She was not put off by the amount of time in the car to get there as she keeps asking to go back to the small house (cabin).

Special Announcement

The Mr proudly strutted out of the veggie patch wielding 7 ears of corn.  He turned the golden loot this way, then that way, and proudly proclaimed that it was good enough to blog, then proceeded to try to give me photographic advice*...

Given that the first two corn crops the Mr and I planted both failed due to my somewhat fat and spoilt horse getting into the garden and eating them (twice!), I thought I probably owed him his fifteen minutes of fame...

Go on, leave him a comment.  He responds well to praise, and to be fair, it really is wonderful looking corn :)  I hope it tastes just as good!

Normal blog programming will resume shortly.

* I didn't really listen to any advice so claim photo credit as my own.  I mean really, the guy grew corn, it does not make him an expert on my camera!

Bumbly

Bumbly ~ The term given to a beginner Rock Climber who displays more enthusiasm than talent.

The Mr and I had a child free day thanks to Nan and Pop and we set off in search of our glory days.  We wanted to go Rock Climbing which is something we have not had much of a chance to do post children even thought we have tons of equipment sitting in the cupboard.

Ebor Falls is a beautiful spot a couple of hours from home so with guidebook in hand we set off to explore and climb a new area.  Given that I have not done any climbing in a few years now I was back to beginner status which is a bit disheartening.  I did not realise just how weak I have become and am now motivated to reclaim some of my past fitness.

So my first venture back onto the rock was not fantastic, and it was hot, and my legs are scratched a lot by the sword grass, and I didn't climb anything worth mentioning, but we had a nice day and that is the main thing.  We are talking about going back to check out the other section for climbing which I am looking forward to, providing I am fitter!

This photo was taken from the base of the climbing area, so at least the view was well worth the trip!

Outdoor fun

Dear Husband is very happy as we found a good bouldering site 10 minutes away from the new house. We have not been over there more than a couple of times but it is reassuring knowing it is there whenever we feel the urge to play on rock.

There is also good climbing an hour away and we hope to get up there this weekend to check it out. Touch wood that the weather holds for the outing!

One day walking down the street of Wagga, a stranger said to us as we passed him on the street "let your kids eat the dirt". It was a strange random comment at the time, but I think this photo proves that we do just that! Miss does love being outside and playing in whatever she can find :)
