The Week of Woe

I can't even remember what happened on Monday.

Tuesday was a shocker full of drama with fire alarms, running late and other similar themed mishaps.

Wednesday was busy and rushed, the kind of day where you know at 8pm the house is a mess but you have just stopped for the first time that day so you ignore it because you cannot make yourself move.

Thursday started in the Emergency ward with Blue.  Possum had to tag along which was not any fun for any of us.  Thankfully everything was ok and we went home to get what rest we could.  At this point my house is still a mess and I am still ignoring it hoping it will sort itself out.

Friday...  After a bad night with the sick boy I am feeling lethargic and sad.  The house is still a mess, but how long can I really ignore it?  Sigh.  I think today, in between cuddles with the sick one I am going to have to do some housework.  Perhaps for no other reason than I don't want it to ruin my weekend which surely can't be as bad as the week I feel I have had? Fingers crossed.

I have fed the children wheat bix for tea twice this week.  I would lump myself in the bad parent category if I had the energy.  I don't even know why I am blogging this, maybe as a reminder that things don't always go to plan, but it will all work out in the end, as long as there is wheat bix that is.

Edit: Monday was the day I found the possum and drove it into town to drop it off for WIRES.  How did I forget that?

Edit #2, 12:10pm: Repair man coming in the morning which forces my hand on the cleaning front.  Drat!

Searching for Happy.

Malabrigo Silky, to be a shawl one day, if I ever get around to finishing...

Right now I don't feel like blogging, or knitting, or sewing, or cleaning, or baking, or crafting away an afternoon with the kids.

I feel like sleeping.
I am just so TIRED!

I have a short fuse, short attention span, and a surly disposition.

I am on Iron tablets for the anemia.  I hope they start to work soon.
My ill health is making me unhappy.

I will be back soon.  When I feel better.  After my nap...

Flood Auction

Auction now closed

When I saw Toni's plan to coordinate a heap of blog auctions I was excited, but didn't think I had anything to offer.  Then I remembered the In Threes cardigan I knit for Possum that she hasn't worn other than to let me get some pictures for my blog.  I love this cardigan, but I hope by auctioning it off I can do some good.

This cardigan is a size 3T.  It is knit in Bendigo Woollen Mills 10ply Luxury and also features handmade buttons from The Bird and the Fish.

Please bid and/or share this link on your blog, via Facebook or Twitter and hopefully we can raise some much needed money for the Queensland Flood Appeal.

How this auction works:

1. Bidding will start at $30 (Australian).
2. You can place a bid by leaving a comment on this blog post with your bid amount and email address. Please make sure that your bid is higher than the previous bidder.
3. Your bid must be in whole dollar increments.
4. This auction is open to everyone, however $10 will be charged for International addresses. Postage is FREE for Australian residents.
5.The auction begins now and will END at 9pm on Monday 24th January 2011.
6. At the close of the auction, I will contact the winner (please make sure your bid comment includes your email address). The winner will pay the winning amount directly into the Premier's Flood Relief Appeal and send me proof of payment via email. Once proof of payment has been received, I will post your package to you.

Auction rules borrowed straight from Toni's blog :)

Man's Best Friend

This is Sam.  I got her as a pup in 2000.

She always came at a run if you called her.  She would bounce like a puppy with excitement when she saw you and would nudge at your hand for a pat.  She never jumped up and got you dirty.

She was great with the kids.  They loved her and she let them pull her hair and pat her with a thump.  Blue calls all dogs 'Sam' and tells them to 'sit' because of her.

She loved the water and would always swim, even when I thought it was too cold.  She loved rounding up the horses, chickens and possums, but never worked stock in a way which would be useful.

She was scared of thunder and would come inside during a storm even though she was strictly an outside dog.  In this house she could open the front door and would let herself in with the first distant rumble of thunder and would be found under my sewing table.

She will be missed.  A lot.

Bitter Sweet

Today I get to meet the special baby who I knitted this Milo for.
I wish it was under happier circumstances.

Why?

Yesterday a work friend of my husbands lost his wife to a brain tumor.  They didn't know she had it.  They should both be at home celebrating the birth of their third child, a little girl just two weeks ago.

I am SAD.  I am ANGRY.
I do not understand why bad things happen to good people.

I am only part way through knitting a baby gift and now I don't know if it is appropriate to give a gift.  What do you write on the card?

Why can't I stop crying?

The best laid plans...

I can celebrate the fact that yesterday while dropping off a load of stuff to the second hand store, I found some goodies.  A complete 20 piece set of Johnson Brothers Australia crockery for $8.

In the way of a good collection, I don't know how I started, but I am gathering quite a few Johnson Brothers bits and pieces, usually in the pastel shades, but let us not limit ourselves :)

Not so lucky is the fact that the bank hashed our paperwork so badly that our house that should have settled yesterday, now won't settle until Monday.

This leaves me with a house packed, and nowhere to move.
A husband on Holidays twiddling thumbs.
Friends told not to come over the weekend and help.
No babysitter because Mum works during the week and Dad has to go to QLD for work.
Rain is predicted for Monday and next week.
Penalty interest.
Mail already redirected.
Phone disconnected.

Unhappy.

At least my chickens left me warm eggs to find under the rose bush this morning.
A little treasure.
