My (not so) Creative Space

Honestly, I am trying, but I am BAD at this...

There might be some good videos and tutorials as well as publications and experts at my disposal but I think I am ready to cry 'uncle' and give up, for now at least.

  2. Don't give up. You just need to sit beside someone who knows what they're doing. You'll be right.

  5. I'll help you next time we meet up. You'll get it, it's just difficult to switch your brain from knitting to crochet, but when it does you'll beoff like a rocket.

  6. I found it quite difficult at first too and realized that I needed someone to show me and to be able to ask questions. Grab one of those helpers and give it another go! :)

  8. Don't give up! once you get it crochet is so much fun.
The best way to learn is to have someone give you a quick tutorial, much easier than learning from the internet or a book. Good luck!

  9. Hang in there - you will get it! Kirsty is right - watching someone in real life is the best for learning. Nic

  10. Hey! Don't diss learning ;-) I agree with the others - one day it just clicks and you wont look back! Endless chains can get a bit tedious, though, so giving something like a granny or even a crooked square sampler with different stitches might help. I did a number of really dodgy granny squares before I got the hang of it! And I recently borrowed The Happy Hooker from the library which has a really good intro in it, though it's in US rather than UK lingo which can be a bit confusing. But it's still good!

  11. I so know how you feel! Don't give up! I had a shocking start too and I had a teacher looking over my shoulder the whole time. Then, when I finally got it I came back a day later and I'd forgotten it all ;) My teacher told me it actually rewires the brain to think in a different way while you are learning so don't be too hard on yourself. I love crocheting now - my favourite thing to do - so restful. You will get there :) Kx
